Masters News:
CABSC Masters at National Championships
This year’s Master’s National Short Course Championships was held at Sheffield, and whilst there was a slightly disappointing number of entries from the CABSC squad, we still finished with two National champions. The Championships continue to expand in the number of entries, and the event starts on a Friday lunchtime with the 1500m, and eventually finishes on the Sunday afternoon.
Kate Vines started the swims in Session 1, by winning the 1500m FC for her age group. Kate’s swim was a fantastic 19:58.11. Over the rest of the weekend Kate also competed in the 400m and 800m finishing in 8th and 4th places respectively.
On the Saturday Clive Beckwith tackled the 100m Butterfly, and after a painful last length vowed to swim the 1500m next year, as it is far easier.!! Clive eventually finished 12th overall.
Vicki Schinagl had a busy day competing in the 200m Backstroke (7th), 400m FC (13th) and 100m FC (21st). All were very good swims.
On the Sunday both Mark and Alie Patterson swam. Alie swam in the 50m Backstroke (8th), before swimming the 200m FC, where she finished 5th. Mark had a successful weekend finishing second in both the 50m and 100m backstroke, third in the 200 FC, and winning the 200m IM
Congratulations to everyone who competed, and we look forward to the next competition, which will be the Masters Inter Counties later in November. Another report will follow next month.
